Sweden+Taiwan Green Transition Alliance visited the president of Evergreen Marine to discuss how Swedish solutions can contribute to Evergreen's green transition

International Maritime Organization (IMO) statistics indicate that CO2 emission from the shipping industry account for 2.7% of global GHG emissions. If left unchecked, this ratio may increase to 15% by 2050. As one of the world's prominent players in its industry, Evergreen Marine actively seeks sustainable solutions that align with global sustainability goals. Their targets include a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and a long-term aim of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

On June 12, the Swedish Representative Anders Wollter, the Swedish Trade and Invest Council and members of the Sweden+Taiwan Green Transition Alliance, which includes Alfa Laval, Atlas Copco, and Volvo Group, held a meeting with the Eric Hsieh, the President of Evergreen Marine. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss how the solutions offered by these companies can contribute to Evergreen's green transition.

During the meeting, Alfa Laval showcased their range of innovative solutions, notably Oceanbird, which employs wind-assisted vessel propulsion to reduce emissions on large ocean-going ships. Volvo Group made a presentation on its diverse range of electric trucks, ranging from 18.6 tons to 44 tons. In addition, Atlas Copco introduced their air lubrication technology, which minimizes friction during ship navigation. The members of the Green Transition Alliance are committed to offering Evergreen Marine sustainable alternatives that address its specific operational needs.

As the demand for eco-friendly solutions continues to surge across industries, our goal is to facilitate collaboration between Swedish and Taiwanese companies, fostering cooperation to achieve more sustainable operations.
