The Swedish Trade & Invest Council together with the “Sweden+Taiwan Green Transition Alliance” members Assa Abloy, Alfa Laval, Altas Copco Taiwan, Baseload Power Taiwan, Volvo Trucks/Taikoo, Volvo Cars Taiwan and TCO Development visited the Director General Lin-Yi Tsai of Climate Change Administration, Ministry of Environment to share experiences on how Taiwan and Sweden work on emission management and green transition.

The Swedish Trade & Invest Council, Market Manager, Martin Vercouter mentioned in the meeting 「Sweden was among the first countries in the world to implement carbon tax in 1991 and Sweden today has the highest carbon tax in the world with USD 137 per ton of carbon emissions. The Swedish experience has shown that green growth is not a cost to the economy – it is an opportunity to drive growth and innovation.」

The Climate Change Administration, along with Director General Tsai, outlined Taiwan's 12 pivotal strategies for achieving Net Zero by 2050. They also presented plans for a Carbon Fee framework and a Voluntary Carbon Offset scheme. During the meeting, alliance members discussed the potential of carbon reduction credits and carbon fees in motivating Taiwanese enterprises to embrace energy-efficient and emission reduction solutions.
